Passing the Baton

Vision Priority 1: Preparing for the Next Generation- Hebrews 12:1 reminds us that we are
“…surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses” the witnesses being those people of God who were before
us. They passed the Baton of Faith on to us. As we anticipate our church’s ministry in the future, the
question remains, ‘Who are we going to pass our Baton to?’ That is the challenge that the Lord will help
us answer.

Quite often we are mindful of the people who used to go to our church. They may have left for a variety of
reasons, but if they left because of a falling out of relationships, God is calling us to do what we can to
reconcile with those individuals. The reunion of Jacob and Esau as recorded in Genesis 33:1-11,
demonstrates to us that reconciling with another can be “Like Seeing the Face of God”.
