At the age of 10 Pastor Joel Fairley gave his heart to the Lord and was baptized into
Christ by his father Rev. W. Lowell Fairley. He accepted God’s call into ministry at the age
of 18, and followed his father and brother into the “Family business.” Joel received his
under grad degree from Judson University, in Illinois and earned a Master’s degree at
Eastern Baptist Seminary in Philadelphia.
In his early ministry Joel has served American Baptist churches in California and Arizona,
in the areas of Youth and Christian Education, and as Sr. Pastor. Throughout his career
the arts and creativity have been an important aspect of Joel’s ministry. From Puppets to
writing, directing, and acting in many original plays created for the church. He is
committed to letting the Arts be a beautiful instrument in bringing honor and Glory to God,
and that they might be used to bring people closer to a deeper loving relationship with the
Lord.
Because of deep personal brokenness on his part, it was necessary for Joel to step away
from pastoral ministry for a period of time. But Joel’s story is not about his successes and

failures it is about God’s love and commitment to broken people. In a spirit of repentance Joel began a 17 year journey with the Lord that
brought him up close and personal with the Truth and Grace of a very loving, and forgiving God.
Joel’s restoration began with intense Christian counseling and soul searching. In this journey Joel also discovered the joy of ministry and
serving others outside the pulpit, and even the church setting, He became involved with Community Theater, and participated in several
short term mission trips, which took him to Thailand, England, India, Nepal and Hungary.
In 1996 Joel was hired by Crossroads Christian Schools in Corona, California to teach 3rd Grade. This began a 15 year association with
the school as a teacher at the Elementary and Middle School levels, Assistant Administrator, and on site Pastor. For a time Joel also
served as Children’s Pastor at Crossroads Christian Church.
Joel and his wife Sue have five grown children and are proud grandparents of two grandsons. They share their home with two Cocker
Spaniels. Pastor Joel dabbles as an Artist and a writer, and loves being with Sue where they celebrate daily God’s Amazing Grace. They
are both excited about the ministry they get share with the FBC PV family.
Pastor Joel cherishes many passages in scripture that the Lord has used to shape his life and ministry today. However there are three
verses that have recently impacted Joel in three crucial areas of his life;
His Identity in Christ
I have been crucified with Christ. It is not I who live, But Christ who lives within me. The life I live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved
me and gave his life for me. Galatians 2:20
His Personal Passion
That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His suffering, being like Him in His death. Philippians 3:10
His Purpose in Ministry
Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and Glorify your Father who is in Heaven. Matthew 5:16
