Salvation
This is your starting place! If you have “confessed with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believed in your heart that God has
raised Him from the
dead, you are saved!” [Romans 10:9] Once you have accepted the forgiveness and leadership of Jesus Christ for your life
you have begun this
exciting adventure to becoming a “Fully Devoted Follower” of Jesus!
Your next step is …
Public Confession Through Baptism
Jesus instructed every person who has made a decision to follow Him to make that decision public through baptism. Here
you get to tell your faith story. It is a time for loved ones and friends to celebrate your faith together [Matthew 28:19-20]. You
should complete this step of faith within a month or two of your salvation decision.
Your next step is …
Joining in With God’s Family!
Your new life of faith is not only about believing, it’s also about belonging. When we accept God’s forgiveness and the
leadership of Jesus Christ, we become a part of His body, spiritually speaking [Ephesians 1:22-23]. That body is called the
church. You are encouraged to gather together with God’s people for worship, spiritual growth, ministry and fulfilling the
Great Commission – all to be done through the local church! At FBC, we have a formal membership for people just like
you! We ask you to join us on this great adventure of faith – we can use your help! You should not delay your membership –
there is too much to benefit from! Once you have become a member
Your next step is …
Learning to Obey Jesus!
As you are making your public declaration of faith through baptism, you should also begin the process of learning what
Jesus expects of you. There are four basic habits that you will need to master. They are talking to God through prayer;
hearing form God through Bible reading; growing closer to God’s people through friendships and building God’s kingdom
through stewardship. The class “Growing Deeper in Christ” (201) is where you will learn these habits. You should have
mastered these habits within 2-4 months of your salvation decision. Once you are practicing these, you should “pair up”
with a mentor or discipler who can train you how to become a more fully devoted follower of Jesus.
Your next step is …
Discovering Your SHAPE!
God has been at work designing you for a long time to accomplish something special with your life! As such, He has
placed inside of you a spiritual gift, a heart or passion for certain things, abilities, a unique personality and experiences. All
of these are in a unique combination so you can do something great for God! Sign up for the next “Spiritual Gift Mix
Workshop” (301) taught at FBC to “discover your SHAPE!” You should have been through the class and through the
evaluations with a growth leader within 3-6 months of your salvation decision.
Your next step is …
Digging Into A Ministry That Uses Your God-given SHAPE
When you have discovered your SHAPE, it becomes pretty obvious where God is calling you to serve Him. Your design will
point you in a direction of service which will bring satisfaction and significance to your life. There are many service
opportunities at FBC. There is also the possibility that your SHAPE suggests starting a new area of ministry. We are open
to helping you with that as well. You should be serving in a ministry within 8-12 months after your salvation decision.
At the same time you should be growing in your leadership skills and Biblical knowledge. We offer Higher Impact
Leadership Development Seminars monthly during our monthly leadership meetings to help you with skills.
Your next step is …
Becoming a Contagious Christian
Relax! There are at least 6 different natural ways of sharing your faith! After all, someone shared their faith with you and that
was how all of this began in your life in the first place! We will have classes that will help you to learn how to share your
faith along the way. By the way, they are called Becoming a Contagious Christian (401) classes. We encourage you to have
gone through the training within a year of your salvation decision. You should be actively sharing your faith with your friends
and loved ones whenever God opens the door for you to share with them. This training makes it easier and helps you
know what to say.
Your next step is …
Helping Someone with Salvation
Which is where this roadmap began! You now are able to walk alongside another and help them through the process you
have been through to accept the forgiveness and leadership of Jesus Christ! Then they too can know and experience the
love and benefits a life with Christ has to offer. Now you can walk them through the roadmap!
