"Fullness of Time" Pastor Nick Quient

Scripture Reading

My point is this: heirs, as long as they are minors, are no better than those who are enslaved, though they are the owners of all the property, 2 but they remain under guardians and trustees until the date set by the father. 3 So with us; while we were minors, we were enslaved to the cosmological powers of the world. 4 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 in order to liberate those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as children. 6 And because you are children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” 7 So you are no longer a slave but a child, and if a child then also an heir through God. Galatians 4:1-7: NRSVUe; Pastor Modified

"God and the Promise of Jesus Christ" Pastor Nick Quient

Scripture Reading

15 Brothers and sisters, I give an example from daily life: once a person’s will has been ratified, no one adds to it or annuls it. 16 Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring; it does not say, “And to offsprings,” as of many, but it says, “And to your offspring,” that is, to one person, who is Christ. 17 My point is this: the law, which came four hundred thirty years later, does not annul a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to nullify the promise. 18 For if the inheritance comes from the law, it no longer comes from the promise, but God granted it to Abraham through the promise. 19 Why then the law? It was added because of transgressions, until the offspring would come to whom the promise had been made, and it was ordained through angels by a mediator. 20 Now a mediator involves more than one party, but God is one. 21 Is the law then opposed to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given that could make alive, then righteousness would indeed come through the law. 22 But the scripture has imprisoned all things under the power of sin, so that what was promised through the faith of Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. "Faith, Law, and the Promise of the Spirit" Pastor Nick Quient

Scripture Reading

10 For as those who operate from the works of law are under a curse, for it is written: “Cursed are all who do not abide by all that is written in the Book of law and do them.” 11 For it is rather obvious that no one is made right before God by law, for “the righteous one shall life by faith.” 12 But the law is not from faith, but rather “the one doing these things [that is, work of law] will live by them.” 13 Messiah has liberated us from the curse of the law, becoming a curse for our benefit, for it is written: “Cursed is anyone who hangs on upon a post.” 14 This was done so that through Messiah Jesus the blessing of Abraham would be for the pagans, in order that we might accept the promise of the Spirit through faithfulness.  Galatians 3:10-14 Pastor’s Translation

"God and the Faithfulness of Abraham" Pastor Nick Quient

Scripture Reading

1 Oh, reckless Galatians, who has bewitched you? It was right before your very eyes that Messiah Jesus was publicly crucified! 2 I would very much like to learn something from you: did you accept the Spirit by works of law or by trusting what was heard? 3 Are you so deluded? Are you, having begun with the Spirit, now going on to completion with the flesh? 4 You have suffered so much in vain—if indeed you have done so in vain. 5 Therefore, has the One supplying you with the Spirit and working by power among you, done so by works of law or by you trusting what was heard? 6 Just “as Abraham trusted in God and it was recognized in him as righteousness,” 7 we also know that those who believe are sons of Abraham. 8 The Scripture, forseeing that God would make righteous the pagans by faithfulness, announced the Gospel to Abraham: “all the pagans will be blessed by you.” 9 For this reason, those who believe shall be blessed with Abraham, the faithful one.
